Common Frog - Rana montana - Rana temporaria - Dolomiti bellunesi - Italy - Aprile 2015 - Immagine realizzata durante un'uscita per il censimento di anfibi alla quale sono impegnato. Questa scena curiosa non è poi così insolita in quanto i maschi di Rana temporaria, durante il periodo riproduttivo, spesso tentano accoppiamenti di gruppo e con anfibi di altra specie. In questo caso ho osservato due maschi aggrappati ad una femmina morta. Le cause del decesso potrebbero essere state due, la prima ipotesi è che la femmina sia morta durante l'accoppiamento e la seconda che potesse essere morta già da tempo per un calo improvviso della temperatura. Quest'ultima ipotesi è avvalorata dal fatto che già alcune settimane prima nello stesso specchio d'acqua erano presenti alcune rane in accoppiamento ma poi alcuni giorni dopo la temperatura è scesa e lo stagno si era ghiacciato. Parliamo di una zona montuosa a circa 1300 m.s.l.m.
