Il Club Frecce Tricolori, al quale sono associato, nel 2016 ha avuto il privilegio di essere l'ultimo gruppo in assoluto a poter visitare il 50°Stormo di San Damiano (PC) prima del suo definitivo scioglimento. All'epoca la base ospitava tutti i Tornado ECR italiani ma, caso fortuito, un Tornado IDS proveniente da Ghedi (BS), era appena atterrato per essere sottoposto a manutenzione. Così, il nostro accompagnatore (un Cap. pilota che dall'anno successivo è entrato a far parte delle Frecce Tricolori), ci ha offerto di andarlo a vedere da vicino. Per quelli che come me amano l'aviazione, è stata un'opportunità indimenticabile.
