To me it all seems very dark, although I think it is wanted, I think he wanted to bring out the few areas in light.
The problem is that even the areas the light seem darker.
The trigger would also be interesting, at least for as you have colored and for those two walls ruined in the foreground, but does not convince me precisely for the brightness, in addition to the lack of sharpness to the slight slope to the right.
Marco.

Mark, you say well, and 'all wanted, the post tends to distort exasperating, characteristics of light that there were at that time, saturation and contrast as well. Sharpness and 'counterproductive, in my opinion, of images like this. In Camera Raw I quite attenuated clarity.
The central part of the door, I do not think it hangs, the rest can 'be, in Venice, often slope means crooked walls. ;-) Photographed with a compact, maybe some 'distortion there is'.
And we say that 'an image that does not lend itself to being judged by the strict canons of a landscape. ;-)

It is a very particular style that is perhaps better judge of a series of photos ... in fact I saw that you have made other so this is one of those that I like the most!
The contrast is very strong and I like applied colors so I decided not excessive.
But I would have preferred a more realistic and delicate contrast in the door area which is a little bit on the subject of the picture to make the more balanced picture.
However the Aprezzo because research of image and juxtaposition of shadows and colors is very refined and pleasant! Very good ;-)

Stefano thanks. September, I will not miss! :-D

Thanks Andrea. ;-) ;-)

Hank, is a post coming of jet obviously even if underexposed to shoot, the exaggerated contrasts are determined during construction.
I saw her like that, maybe it's a momentary disorder, then passes :-D :-D
Seriously I thank the depth comment about the middle part, I try. ;-)

A job that I find very well done

and more importantly,

It equipped with a personal view and not standardized or serial photography.

Grazie Max57.
Ciao
