Idillicamente circondata da prati e campi, Glorenza in Val Venosta (Alto Adige) rappresenta un piccolo gioiello, oltre a vantare le strutture civiche meglio tenute del Tirolo. Mura cittadine intatte, con torrioni semicircolari e tre porte testimoniano l'antico carattere difensivo della cittadina che nel 1291 ottenne il diritto di tenere mercato. Fu nel 1291 che Mainardo II, il principe regnante del Tirolo, conferì al comune di Glorenza i privilegi di "civitas". Ma la vera fioritura Glorenza la ebbe nel XIV e XV secolo. Ancora oggi la piazza medievale del mercato è impiegata come palcoscenico di allegre feste e mercati frequentati di buon grado non solo dai suoi cittadini. Glorenza, la più piccola città del Tirolo e dell'Italia, è un gioiello architettonico di cui subito ci si innamora a prima vista. Le mura di cinta completamente conservate, con le tre imponenti torri e tutta una serie di torrette di guardia, racchiudono pittoreschi vicoli ed angoli, case padronali del XVI secolo e porticati dal fascino particolare. La Chiesa di San Pancrazio che si trova appena fuori le mura vicino all'alveo dell'Adige è uno degli edifici di culto più importanti della zona, appartenente al territorio ecclesiastico del Decanato di Malles, nella Diocesi di Bolzano-Bressanone. L'edificio, dallo stile tipicamente alpino, si presenta con una planimetria estremamente imponente, favorita in parte sia dall'uso di una pietra chiara, che contrasta con il colore più scuro della zona superiore, e sia dalla costruzione a capanna, con tetti a spiovente com'è consuetudine in questi luoghi. Di fianco alla chiesa, trova posto un alto e ampio campanile a pianta rettangolare classica, con orologio e cella campanaria a trifore, e sormontata da una lanterna poligonale, chiusa a sua volta da una cuspide a goccia.
