Despite the 3 stop graduated grey filter, the light that suddenly erupted was just too strong to keep control of, but I've spent half an hour trying to rein it in my editing and conversion. On the right are old storage sheds from the 1700-1800's |

Beautiful shot and great pp, with all that light you managed to contain the high lights Hello Fabrizio Bellissima inquadratura e ottima pp, con tutta quella luce sei riuscito a contenere le alte luci Ciao Fabrizio |

I only just managed to control the highlights, Fabrizio, and even that is debatable! Cheers. |

This looks great, Tim! I can see that light must have been very difficult to manage! The wall in the archway and the cobble stones look particularly great! |

This is the old trading district of Exeter, Ann, ten km up the River Exe from the sea and about 1 km from the city centre. It's a great focal place for people and for photos and I always seem to find my way down there. Now they're pubs and restaurants and cafes, though it was really cold wind (for July) that evening so almost no-one is doing anything al fresco. The river was supplemented by a roughly adjacent ship canal to aid navigation for ships exporting wool and such. The Customs House (see the other black and white photo in the series) is right at the top of this picture (out of sight though.) |

It does sound very interesting and look like a great place for photo opportunities! I don't think I've ever been to Exeter - perhaps another place for the 'to do' list! Ah,yes - I remember that image - I really liked it! |

It's currently on the £16 (normally £40) off peak day return train offer until September, Ann - make use of it! Not sure where your nearest station on the London-Exeter (via Salisbury) line would be though. I was very surprised to find that the very last train back was 11pm, but after Yeovil Junction, it's non stop to Salisbury, but doesn't get in til 12.45 a.m. That is how I managed to get night shots around the cathedral, but having now done that to my satisfaction, won't be doing that again (it's a 'lively' place, with the cathedral Close fully open and accessible to all at all times and pubs even on the street next to it! |

It 's true there are burns but the shot is well composed and remains beautiful. E' vero ci sono bruciature ma lo scatto è ben composto e rimane bello. |

I've just checked and it would take 4 1/2 hours each way, so not an option for me by train! It's possible I may drive sometime though, I guess! |

Gillingham is not a huge distance from you and then it's about 1.5 hours each way - it's a LONG way to drive the and A303/A30 is busy and certainly not an easy drive. |
