La storia di questa foto riconduce ad una fine tragica per il pettirosso.
Mi trovavo a fotografare aironi sul delta del Po durante il grande freddo di febbraio quando fringuelli e pettirossi a pochi metri da me, erano intenti a cibarsi di briciole che qualcuno aveva lasciato per loro.
Da li a poco un altro esemplare di pettirosso ha acceso un violento scontro con il soggetto della foto rivelando il forte temperamento tipico di questa specie.
Risultato?
Il primo ne è uscito malconcio ed è rimasto qualche secondo fermo in terra, stordito dalla baruffa di poco prima.
Ma i guai veri per lui dovevano ancora arrivare.
Avendo abbassato la guardia, non è riuscito a sfuggire allo scatto fulmineo di un gheppio che approffittando del suo stato ha messo fine alla sua esistenza proprio sotto ai miei occhi!
Purtroppo non sono stato veloce a riprendere la scena in quanto ero già tornato ad inquadrare gli aironi.
E' sorprendente come la fame spinga gli animali ad uscire allo scoperto e ne è stata la dimostrazione il fatto che il gheppio abbia predato a pochi metri dai miei piedi!

The story of this photo leads to a tragic end for the robin.
I was to photograph herons in the Po Delta during the big freeze of February when finches and robins just a few feet from me, were intent on eating crumbs that someone had left for them.
From a little later another copy of Robin sparked a violent clash with the subject of the photo revealing the strong temperament typical of this species.
The result?
The first came out battered and remained a few seconds still on the ground, stunned by the fray as before.
But the real trouble for him had yet to arrive.
Having let down his guard, was not able to escape the shooting of a lightning kestrel approffittando his state has put an end to his existence in my eyes!
Unfortunately I was not fastrecord the scene as I was back to frame the herons.
It 'amazing how hunger push the animals to come out and it was evident in the fact that the kestrel has looted a few meters from my feet!

Bella foto e ambientazione !!
Fa ancora di più tenerezza considerando la fine che ha fatto . certo sarebbe meglio che morissero tutti di vecchiaia ma purtroppo alcuni sopravvivono predando ...
