Caterina, anch'io trovo che ci siano molte foto di quel posto con colori improbabili, ammetto che a me piace anche la PP spinta ma deve essere fatta molto bene e soprattutto la scena dovrebbe essere, anche se alterata, verosimile, probabile.
Io ho scelto una PP delicata, anche perchè comunque non saprei farne una spinta che non sia ridicola, ma che comunque lascia godere della bellezza di quel posto, la foto che ho messo con i fotografi rende bene l'idea della luce e dei colori reali della scena.
Riguardo i neri un po' chiusi ho avuto anch'io qualche dubbio e probabilmente avrei dovuto tenere la zona degli ulivi al centro leggermente meno scura, sulle alte luci invece ho proprio scelto di lasciarle alte pur rimanendo dentro il clipping nell'istogramma.

Io ho percorso in tutto 1600km per visitare la val d'Orcia ma in questo modo ho avuto l'opportunità di vedere degli scenari che sono molto diversi da quelli in cui vivo.
Sono d'accordo con te che l'Italia offre una varietà di paesaggio che per un fotografo potrebbe essere sufficiente ad impegnare una vita ma non si può negare che la magia di un'aurora boreale non la si potrà mai vedere qui da noi, e nemmeno il fascino di alcuni parchi africani o dei deserti o dell'artico.
Ci sono sicuramente persone che snobbano l'Italia preferendo mete più esotiche ma personalmente se mai dovessi recarmi in Islanda o nei parchi USA non lo farei per sembrare più figo ma per godere di panorami unici e completamente differenti da quelli, già splendidamente vari, che offre l'Italia.
