Centrale Idroelettrica Farsa Il Canale Quintino Sella fu costruito tra il 1870 e il 1874, pochi anni dopo il completamento del Canale Cavour, lungo 22 km le sue acque sono utilizzate per la produzione di energia idroelettrica e per approvvigionamento irriguo, largo oltre 10 metri e profondo più di 3, raggiunge una portata max 32 m³/s nei mesi primaverili ed estivi quando è richiesta una grande quantità di acqua per l'irrigazione delle risaie. Si origina dalle acque del Canale Cavour in località Veveri a Novara, accanto ad una centrale elettrica alimentata dalle stesse acque. Il termine "diramatore" indica appunto che esso si dirama da un altro canale artificiale. Dopo aver attraversato la città di Novara continua a scorrere verso sud bagnando i territori di Olengo, Garbagna Novarese, Terdobbiate e Tornaco, in provincia di Novara, dopodiché entra in provincia di Pavia attraversando i comuni di Gravellona Lomellina e Cilavegna. Qui si divide in due bracci subdiramatori detti "Pavia" e "Mortara" nei pressi del Santuario di Sant'Anna di Cilavegna, con le loro acque contribuiscono ad irrigare vaste aree della Lomellina nei dintorni di Mortara e Vigevano. Il Canale, una volta fuori la citta' di Novara, alimenta la Centrale Idroelettrica Farsa nella periferia Sud/Est di Novara e continua a diramare bocchelli di presa irrigui, dirigendosi poi verso Olengo.
