L'attuale chiesa parrocchiale venne eretta fra il 1723 ed il 1741, in sostituzione della vecchia che presentava rischi di stabilità ed era inadeguata a contenere l'aumentata popolazione. Con questa costruzione la comunità di Marene intendeva anche celebrare, attraverso un maestoso monumento, l'ottenuta indipendenza. La stesura del progetto e l'esecuzione dei lavori furono affidati al celebre architetto Francesco Gallo, autore della cupola del santuario di Vicoforte. Per la bellezza architettonica e la grandiosità della struttura, essa divenne un importante punto di riferimento nel panorama artistico del sud Piemonte. Nel 1775 la chiesa venne dedicata alla Natività di Maria Vergine. L'interno è ad un'unica navata molto ampia con quattro cappelle laterali, pilastri d'ordine composito e capitelli corinzi; l'altare maggiore è opera dello stuccatore Cipriano Beltramelli. I due altari laterali di destra sono dedicati all'Immacolata Concezione ed al Santo Sufragio; sul lato opposto si trovano gli altari di San Francesco di Sales e del Santo Rosario. L'imponenza della facciata barocca e l'eleganza del campanile conferiscono all'edificio sacro un particolare fascino.
