L'attuale basilica in stile barocco venne completata nel 1654. Essa comprende la venerata statua della Madonna Addolorata che tiene sulle ginocchia il Figlio deposto dalla croce, la cappella originaria eretta da Leonardo, l'altare maggiore ricoperto di foglie d'oro e d'argento, gli splendidi affreschi della volta di Adam Molk, gli altari laterali del Pußjager e altre opere di A. Silber e di F. Haider. Alla chiesa si accede da un corridoio dove sono conservato centinaia di ex voto.
