con Canon EF 1.4x III, 1/800 f/8.0, ISO 6400, hand held. Specie: Canis lupus

L'alba è passata da poco, il cielo è coperto e la luce scarsa. la temperatura vicino allo zero. Sentiamo in lontananza gli ululati dei lupi ( che sono il target di questa giornata nella Lamar Valley) dietro un boschetto in lontananza, ma nonostante i nostri sforzi visivi i lupi restano occultati dagli alberi... In compenso avvistiamo dapprima un coyote vicino alla sua tana e poi ancora un altro: siamo concentrati ad osservarli quando, improvvisamente, un grosso lupo nero da dx si avvicina rapidamente alla tana dei coyotes. A questo punto cominciano una serie di scaramucce fra il lupo e gli stessi coyotes (nel frattempo diventati 4) che ci impegnano negli scatti e nell'osservazione per una decina di minuti...Pubblico questa foto, tutt'altro che perfetta, per documentare una scena non banale e consueta. Per giustificare, in parte, il non brillantissimo risultato tecnico vi fornisco tutti i dati di ripresa: cielo,come detto, coperto, distanza 100-110 metri, apertura f.8 (massima consentita dall'accoppiata 100-400 IS II+ moltiplicatore 1,4) tempo 1/800, iso (ahimè) 6400! Il 100-400 è un grande zoom che in queste situazioni spesso risolve problemi di ripresa ma non brilla per luminosità e la distanza ha aggravato i problemi. La post-produzione poteva essere migliore ma queste sono le mie competenze in materia: di meglio non sono stato capace di fare. Ripeto, valutate la scena come documento di quotidiana rivalità fra competitors nella natura incontaminata di Yellowstone. Un ringraziamento ai miei compagni di viaggio. Yellowstone, Lamar Valley.
