Non è un piatto tipico, o meglio lo è anche, ma in questo caso non parliamo di cucina piemontese bensì di architettura. Casa Scaccabarozzi, meglio conosciuta dai torinesi col nome di Fetta di Polenta è sicuramente un edificio che merita di essere visto una volta arrivati nel capoluogo piemontese. Il palazzo sorge nel quartiere di Vanchiglia, che fu, tra l'altro, il nome della società di costruttori a cui fu commissionata la costruzione dell'edificio nel 1840. Della società faceva parte all'epoca anche Alessandro Antonelli, noto progettista della Mole, il quale volle testare le sue qualità con questa costruzione. L'edificio si trova al numero 9 di via Giulia di Barolo all'angolo con corso San Maurizio. Questo edificio, progettato da Antonelli sul suo stesso terreno, fu intrapreso più come una scommessa che come una vera e propria esigenza di costruzione. Guardando le dimensioni dei lati del palazzo, che ha forma trapezoidale-triangolare molto stretta (16mX5mX54cm), si può meglio comprendere l'eccezionalità dell'opera. Il palazzo è costituito da 9 piani, di cui 2 sotterranei, collegati da una piccola scala a forbice in pietra. Nel lato di 54 cm, per ottimizzare al massimo lo spazio, Antonelli decise di porvi la canna fumaria. L'altezza complessiva dello stabile è invece di 24 metri. I primi tre piani furono ultimati nel 1840, mentre i successivi tre furono aggiunti successivamente nel 1881. Il nome comunemente attribuitogli dai torinesi, Fetta di Polenta, è dato dalla curiosa forma dell'edificio, somigliante a una vera e propria fetta, e dal suo caratteristico colore giallo. In realtà il palazzo prende il nome dalla moglie di Antonelli, Francesca Scaccabarozzi, insieme alla quale l'architetto abitò alcuni anni l'edificio dal momento che nessuno voleva abitarci temendo un crollo di una costruzione così anomala per l'epoca. Non propriamente anomala per i nostri giorni, rimane sicuramente un curioso edificio che merita di essere visto una volta in città.
