Questa bicicletta appartiene a una donna che se ci fosse il Nobel per il lavoro, senz'altro lo assegnerebbero a lei. Assunta, è rimasta vedova a 28 anni con tre figli tutti in tenera età. Oggi ne ha 60 e per tutti questi anni ha continuato in bicicletta ad andare a fare pulizie nelle case dei “signori”, come li chiama lei. Si è spaccata la schiena per quattordici ore al giorno, senza chiedere niente a nessuno. Al mattino alle cinque era già in sella alla sua bicicletta, e via a far pulizie negli uffici. Poi dalle nove fino alle sette di sera nelle case private. La domenica, giorno per tutti di riposo, l'Assunta stirava le camice che le passava la vicina Tintoria. Oggi è nonna di due splendidi bimbi. Ha fatto studiare i suoi figli fino alla laurea, le due ragazze si sono sposate e insegnano, ma il suo orgoglio è Piero, oggi trentacinquenne, cardiologo in un famoso ospedale milanese. Il suo unico mezzo di locomozione è stata ed è la bicicletta. Quando qualcuno le lascia i saluti per Piero, lei con fierezza risponde: “Appena el vedi, el dirò al sciur dottur”.
