Kathputli Colony, New Delhi sent on May 17, 2016 (11:31) by Riccardomelzi. 10 comments, 363 views. [retina]

at 24mm, 1/125 f/4.0, ISO 320, hand held. Delhi, India.

Beautiful ... I like .. a great document ... accompanied by a good story described. Technically I wanted to see also framed hands of the puppeteer (if so it is said) ... or puppet master ... the rest is ok. Excellent choice of colors, especially the purple contrasting with the blue wall dress. Excellent pdr from the bottom and now caught. If nn was x hands dare I say perfect shot bravo.ciao. Nico

A beautiful photos accompanied by an accurate description. The only limit is represented by the hands cut off ... a shame not having included ...

I begin to recognize your shots so it's a good sign it means that you have a one in your way, the shot is beautiful but her hands cut disturb a lot, too bad ... you've tried with a shot in 2.8?

I think the puppeteer is a lifestyle and a very particular job.
I am reading the caption I realize that, some trades that we thought by now disappeared, are still in vogue in other countries.
The photograph shows this job well, the pdr hurls puppet and puppeteer letting us see almost with eyes as a child under the stage, where everything seems immense.
Funny how I remember who the puppet moves, I think for them it is more than just a "piece of wood".
Excellent setting, in this way we have a beautiful backdrop decided.
Severed hands is true, is a mistake, but in my opinion not so important.
I like, very good representation of other places and other customs.

Beautiful depiction of a trade but quirky (at least for me Italian born in 78 :-D). As told by Marco impresses pdr that enhances the puppet but at the same time allows us to appreciate the similarity between puppet and puppeteer ... the only downside is not being able to appreciate the continuity and hands that would have added gestures to "trade" as others have pointed out ;-)

Thank you all for your conmenti and your directions.
Hands: I was in a very dirty backyard on the same floor of the feet of the puppeteer, with his back against a wall; my room does not have the swivel display ... you can imagine what position I :-D
The minimum focal length I tried to fill the frame with blue wall on the left with marionette hanging that seemed significant. Unfortunately I had with me 17-40 that would help me a lot. The diaphragm a little closed helped me to discern the face of the puppeteer, I think f / 2.8 would be too blurry and I would have had less detail on the puppet.

Really very beautiful Riccardo, taken by an intelligent and effective point of view. I do not know whether intentional but the cut of the hands I find him a genius, lately I like that the content of the photos is not always shot in the face to the observer and the lack of hands allude to a "proper life" of the puppet. Your reporter skills are improving. I wish you a good journey and wait for your photos to return. Greetings

Thanks Mauro, hopefully for good
Parto "reinforced" the old 5D, of 17-40 and a 35mm f / 1.4 just bought second-hand, I do not know (I just had time to do it in a calibrated CS) but of which I have already realized that it is quite difficult to use in large openings ... hopefully. See you soon!

I find your picture very addictive and exciting.
Its highlight is obviously the PDR which emphasizes the size of the puppet, carrying almost like his juggler. The PDC you have chosen is in my opinion fits perfectly, highlights the precious details of the "baby" leaving legible the careful and concentrated expression of who is pulling the strings.
The composition is very well balanced, creates a perfect triangle that starts from the bottom edge of the frame going to close up on the right, giving a pleasant and interesting read.
Perfect.

A pdr that immerses you in the shot ... Congratulations, reportage pure.
I also tried to take the man's arms, but I understand the difficulty of performing a shot like that
