Lycaena thersamon ( Esper, 1784 ) Dimensioni: apertura alare è 14-16 mm Descrizione della specie: dimensioni medio-piccole, entrambi i sessi superiormente bruno-arancio con macchie nere; il maschio con soffusione violetta sulle ali posteriori e una serie di macchie scure submarginali; la femmina con una piccola coda sull'ala posteriore. Comportamento: le colonie di questa farfalla sono spesso rivelate dalla presenza di uno o due individui attivi solamente. Piante ospiti: Le larve si nutrono di Rumex acetosa, Polygonum aviculare. La pianta bassa forma una specie di tappeto con i suoi lunghi steli verdi filiformi da cui spuntano solo un paio di piccole foglie. Ogni pianta può essere un metro o più di diametro. Distribuzione e habitat: si trova in tutta Europa, piani collinare e montano, ambienti prativi caldi e asciutti; pendii rocciosi assolati. Periodo di attività: periodo di volo e svernamento: bi-o trivoltina; sfarfallamenti fra fine aprile e fine settembre.
