Più sono piccoli...più sono teneri... Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park. Nel Giappone centrale,tra foreste della Prefettura di Nagano, c'è la “Valle dell'inferno”. A più di 800m sul livello del mare, quest'area rimane innevata per un terzo dell'anno. A causa della naturale attività vulcanica, acqua bollente sgorga dal letto del fiume.Vivendo molto più a nord di qualsiasi primate non umano, devono sopportare inverni lunghi e severi, e sopravvivere a temperature inferiori ai -14°C. All'interno dell'area del parco vive una comunità di circa 200 esemplari oramai conosciuti in tutto il mondo da quando, nel 1970, la rivista Life dedicò loro una copertina. La caratteristica usanza del branco, che li rende unici al mondo, è l'abitudine, soprattutto nel periodo invernale,di trascorrere parte della giornata immersi nelle calde acque termali che sgorgano nella vallata.
