This is one of the carved faces behind the magnificent cedar and mahogany choir stalls in Malaga cathedral. The whole area is very dark - there has been much editing to achieve the result I was looking for.

I did see this and meant to comment, before and then today, I was in such a rush to get out.

I know exactly what you saw and what you wanted - I would have seen the same. In some ways, you've had to choose probably the worse type of lens for such (slow, not brilliant at that slow maximum) and despite using VR, it does show some camera shake. However, even if you'd used a quality telezoom, such as my Tamron SP 70-300mm and at f5.6, that would have only given you a slightly faster shutter speed. In these circumstances, I would have boosted the iso to whatever it took to get a sharp shot and then try rescue as best you could afterwards. But a like for seeing and the processing, which has really helped.
