Qui siamo vicino marina di Melendugno, cioè dove dovrebbe approdare il gasdotto Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). Poco più a sud, cioè subito a sud di Otranto, si trova Punta Palascìa, che è il punto più orientale d'Italia e dista solo 80 km dall'Albania.
