Stopped on the Tracks... sent on May 09, 2016 (11:00) by Timk2. 44 comments, 2029 views. [retina]

, 1/125 f/4.5, ISO 400, hand held. London, United Kingdom.

Waiting to arrive by train into London at Waterloo Station - it's such a busy station, we always have to wait for another to depart before we can pull in. Shot through the (probably not that clean) train window, at angle, I liked how it was all framed and with all that jumbled up line of intertwining tracks, foreshortened slightly by the short telephoto lens. It was a dull rainy day and I have of course, removed all colour except for the red stop lights. Much editing, especially to the softer and much darker bottom right corner.

Thank you Ezio - I too like that strange mixture myself, saw the potential for the shot at the time, whereas I reckon, the vast majority wouldn't have done.

A well conceived shot and great choice to convert to mono with just the red lights remaining. There's a blue haze around the light top right that I'm not so sure about but a great image over all!

Ann - thank you - it was conceived out of boredom, to be honest and yes, it looks slightly purply blue around there but I did say that the right hand side was very distorted due to the double glazed glass and angle of shooting - and it's gone beyond the stage of deleting the image so that I can have another go at editing.

Indeed! I only mentioned it because I tend to be pickier with your images, just as you are with mine! Although, having said that, you've not picked me up on anything recently - please do continue to do so - I like that you keep me on my toes and mostly I'm in a good place to receive criticism!

I WAS going to comment on how you've come from being a bit of a sunset 'freak' into one who tries all sorts and mostly gets away with them. Look at your Spanish ones, the bad weather was actually your friend - you've got some of your highest ratings and a whole new respect from many, I'm sure, not least me. The images are tighter, better composed and better edited and presented too. So, me hounding you has paid some dividends. Think more, shoot less and get those ones with mileage as good as you can get them in camera, at the time.

Goodness! That was an unexpected response! I was bracing myself for you to berate me on something! :)) Thank you so much, Tim!

You are right that I need to think more and shoot less. Since doing the shutter count, I've worked out that I've taken an average of 222 photos every day since I bought the camera 19 months ago!

I still love sunrises and sunsets...... :)
