Io l'ho fatto solo da poco e ho avuto un sacco di guai, anche se me l'ha fatto un professionista. Basti dire che sono stata 3 mesi senza reflex. Poi è vero che gli ultimi filtri permettono un bilanciamento del bianco naturale più facilmente che con quelli un po' più vecchiotti, ma se vuoi usare la reflex anche per il diurno devi scattare sempre in raw, fare il bilanciamento del bianco in manuale e soprattutto rifarlo ogni volta che cambi luce. Inoltre è inevitabile che nello smontare e rimontare il filtro un po' di polvere passi, basta un bruscolino che si posa dietro il filtro e nelle foto diurne sei fregato, devi sempre clonare il bruscolino! Io alla fine ho scelto di tenere la 500D solo per l'astronomia e per le altre foto ho preso un secondo corpo macchina, ma è stata una scelta sofferta e a lungo meditata (e soprattutto ho dovuto aspettare di avere un po' di gruzzolo!).

Come ha già detto Chiara la modifica è un passo importante sopratutto per l'acquisizione delle regioni ricche di segnale Halfa (idrogeno). La galassia sigaro per esempio, quella a destra nella foto, nella parte centrale ha dei filamenti nubulosi di halfa (apprezzabili con esposizioni maggiori e focali mediamente più lunghe).
Anch'io come Chiara mi sono affidato a un professionista per la modifica, però oltre all'attesa di oltre 2-3 mesi, ho avuto anch'io il problema della polvere sul sensore. In astrofotografia la cosa è risolvibile tranquillamente facendo flat, ma nelle riprese diurne con diaframmi chiusi è molto fastidioso. In pratica addio paesaggi nel mio caso.
Devi comunque considerare che senza modifica puoi fare foto agli ammassi globulari, agli ammassi aperti, alla luna, a molte galassie e anche qualche nebulosa planetaria. Quindi di oggetti ce ne sono tanti. Considera che sul mio sito astrogallery.altervista.org/ (tranne la nebulosa rosetta, testa di cavallo e quest'ultima) le foto sono state scattate tutte con la 450d originale. Quindi puoi divertirti un sacco anche senza modifica.
