Sulla cima di un'arida montagna chiamata Nemrut Dagi, alta circa 2.100 metri, giacciono le rovine del regno perduto di Commagene. Qui, nel 62 a.C., re Antioco I costruisce un misterioso santuario reale: vengono costruite colossali statue di aquile e leoni, di dei greci e persiani, oltre a due enormi sculture rappresentanti lo stesso re; qui verso il tramonto, uno dei posti più suggestivi che io abbia mai visto!
