Tra le emozioni più belle che vivo nei miei viaggi fotografici nei luoghi che in questo mondo globalizzato ancora possono definirsi selvaggi, vi sono quelle che provo alla fine della giornata. Quando si fa buio e si torna al "campo" .... e si accende il fuoco e attorno ad esso si mangia e si parla delle esperienze della giornata per poi prepararsi per andare a dormire nella piccola tenda .... sempre abbastanza sporchi e stanchi. Nella savana o nella boscaglia, la notte è il momento in cui la natura si esalta nella sua bellezza e nella suo essere selvaggio, in cui i suoni e i versi degli animali aumentano per numero e intensità e vengono amplificati dall'oscurità che, nelle pause di quiete, amplifica in modo assordante anche lo stesso silenzio. E' il momento in cui gli animali aumentano le loro attività e si celebra l'eterno ciclo della vita, nella sfida tra prede e predatori.... ma anche nel rituale dell'accoppiamento per conservare la continuità della specie. E' il momento in cui le stelle, lontano dagli inquinamenti luminosi, risplendono di luce fantastica rivelando colori e ammassi galattici incredibili, mentre gli alberi e la natura attorno, invece, sono ombre misteriose e impenetrabili. E' il momento in cui si percepiscono movimenti e suoni a volte pericolosamente vicini, fino a sfiorare e toccare la tenda in cui ci si è da poco stesi per dormire. In quei luoghi così selvaggi e veri, è il momento in cui le paure più ancestrali e primitive presenti nel profondo dell'animo umano riemergono e fanno guardare al buio e alla notte come a qualcosa di misterioso e magico, di imperscrutabile e pericoloso. E' anche il momento, però, in cui si esalta la voglia di conoscenza e esplorazione, di sfida e confronto, soprattutto con noi stessi, obbligandoci a guardare dentro il nostro io più profondo e a misurarci con poteri e forze molto più grandi di noi e del nostro quotidiano moderno. E' un ritorno all'ancestrale e alla natura che si accompagna anche ad una visione della vita un po' narcisista, che rimanda alla figura dell'esploratore ante litteram, voglioso di conoscenza e avventura ma anche un po' esteta nella consapevolezza del privilegio di cui gode nel potersi misurare con il bello, il magico, la forza, il pericolo e la grandezza che solo la natura selvaggia sa offrire....
