Gli affreschi sulle pareti, sorprendentemente recuperati in un restauro del 1992, sono caratterizzati dalla tipica decorazione seicentesca a finti marmi dipinti. Lo stile di questa e delle altre sale è legato ai primi proprietari che abitarono la dimora: il più importante tra questi fu Ansaldo Pallavicino, che subentrò ai Grimaldi nella proprietà del palazzo: nelle sale si trovano numerosi dipinti e opere ereditati o commissionati da lui o dal padre Agostino. Testimoniano la "civiltà dell'abitare genovese" tra Sei e Settecento anche i mobili, a iniziare dai cassettoni "a bambocci" (decorati da piccole figure scolpite sui lati e sui cassetti) e vari stipi, preziosi contenitori diffusi nelle dimore
