Il centro di Chichicastenango è dominato, architettonicamente, dalla Chiesa di Santo Tomás, il cui ingresso nei giorni di mercato avviene dalle entrate laterali perché i gradini che conducono fino alla porta principale sono considerati sacri pertanto diventano luogo dove bruciare incenso in senso di devozione. Questa donna non fa eccezione e si dedica a questo rito ancestrale.
