I was delighted to meet Timk2 for the first time yesterday! He kindly allowed me to try out his Samyang 8mm f3.5 fisheye! This image was taken in the entrance to Nothe Fort in Weymouth. |

Ha! I get a mention! Have to admit, I preferred the last of the three as black and white and not so sure about this one, but it's still quite effective, with nice shapes and those big doors bowing out towards. Here's the lens on Juza www.juzaphoto.com/recensione.php?l=en&t=samyang_8fisheye_f2-8ii - my review is at the top and I have the second most liked image using that lens. Surprised that I wrote the review two years ago - didn't realise I'd had it that long. I haven't posted any up showing this, but could email you one. Ken Rockwell's is www.kenrockwell.com/tech/8mm-f35.htm . His review for the original older mk1. I guess that improvements between the original and my mk2 is down to improved compatibility and cosmetics rather than optics, but I know mine is very sharp from f4.5 and smaller. We both know that my model works with your D5300, so I very strongly recommend you go for this mk2 model, which should be the one on offer new, anyway. Read his final recommendations particularly. I bought mine for £174 from this company www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samyang-8mm-F3-5-UMC-Fish-eyes-CS-II-Lens-Nikon-AE- - the price has risen but I had absolutely no problems ordering/receiving it and if I recall, it took less than a week. I also found, by accident, that shooting at f3.5 at night gives nicely weird halos to starbursts from streetlights. It's actually rather attractive, to my eye and I think you would too. Lastly - I thought you liked my mono in Frome - but you haven't commented on it yet - it's been up on the most Popular page - and gone, so you had plenty of time! |

Checked in at Castle Cameras and their stock is the latest Mk2, the stock photo on the site is wrong and the price is £239. As I couldn't get to the shop until 17.27 (which they commented on! - returning bus was late) I couldn't ask them to check stocks in Winton, but you could phone yourself, of course. |

Thank you so much for both your comment on this photo and also for all the information and research! That is very kind of you to go to so much trouble! Serious thought being given to this lens - I would have enjoyed it today in London! I really thought I'd commented on your Frome image - sorry! |

I did wonder if you had bought it in London, to be honest. London would be a very good place to run riot with it! |
