Al limite del bosco, al confine del paese, c'è il crocevia di quelli della notte. Un pò uomini e un pò animali possiedono un non so che di magico. Mi dice Renato, la cui casa è là, al confine del paese e al limite del bosco: " vieni a trovarmi! Ti faccio assaggiare un amaro di genziana che è una bomba!" Mentre sorseggiamo l' amaro, rischiarati da qualche lenta fiamma, fuggita attraverso il vetro annerito della stufa, scorgiamo dall' ampia finestra sopraggiungere alcune goffe figure. Nessuno di quelli della notte si scompone; né uomini né animali. I tassi bonaccioni e paciosi mescolano le loro tracce sbocconcellando qualche frutto, mentre la volpe, curiosa ma astuta non entra nel cono di luce posto a rischiarare il loro salotto. La faina, impudente, con un balzo si unisce alla compagnia prendendo il centro della scena. Ci osserva sorseggiare l' amaro, tra i riflessi arancioni della stufa gustandosi tranquilla la compagnia e ... la sua irresistibile marmellata di fragole.

Anche se abitiamo nella stessa regione, siamo ai due poli opposti, io nel basso Piemonte, 60 km a nord di Genova e peccato perché ho una ricetta di crostata di una vecchia signora che piace sempre a tutti e anche io faccio marmellata in casa!
