there was a full moon it is fat to have gone even lower! It gave me the right lighting the trees and the stones of the house. I maybe I could increase by a hair, but I would not have gained so much more.

Beautiful! May I ask how many clicks it took? How long did the total session? There was a pause between shots?

Hi Michele. Thanks so much! I did about 160 from 25 "shots with interval between the beginning of one unit and the next 26" so that there was one "between the end of one unit and the other to allow time for the processor to save the image (jpg end otherwise in raw it would take too long to save on my d5100 and I would have missed one shot every two or I would have to lengthen the time between shots, creating a gap in the trail).
For the composition I used for a specific Gimp plugin for Startrail, in the past I have also used startrail.exe but did not compose well the trails and left a bit effect (my very possible ignorance in handling the medium).
The camera settings I got them from fotocomefare.it.

What's his name? Startrail.exe is really easy, this plugin is it more ??? :-D

Startrail V2.0 can be found here: registry.gimp.org/node/25638 also has the option to create the wakes as they were comets. It is no longer simple startrail.exe, but it is not much more complicated, I found better quality in the final result: I was never able to have a clean wake, or was it looked like a pixelated or morse code (it's easy to have something wrong in settings).

There is a second plugin called gimp-Startrail-compositor but windows need to install Python not being practical, I tried to use it, but I must have done something wrong in the installation.

You tell me a little bit the procedure you follow on GIMP? Thanks: D

After installing the plugin I create the stack of images then open the drop-down filter-generic-Startrail. Opens the options window (now do not remember exactly but there is an option for version "comet" of the trails, rather than the possibility of indicating the dark shots and close-ups ...), I give way and voila ...
I have an old laptop with a free memory comparable to that of a goldfish, so I had to create a dozen miniStack then add the results as if they were single shots. I do not know whether it is a programming flaw or a need for this type of post production, but during the process of creating a copy of the individual steps of the sum is created, without leaving any residue upon completion.
