Originariamente erano tutti magazzini, molto alti e stretti perché le tasse da pagare erano proporzionali alla superfice occupata; in quella centrale si vede ancora la trave a cui era applicata la carrucola che serviva a tirare su le merci da immagazzinare. Quando poi i commerci via mare sono finiti sono state trasformate in abitazioni. Singolari anche i finestroni molto ampi per catturare il più possibile la luce naturale, e quasi tutte senza persiane.
