Al fondo della navata centrale della chiesa si apre un ambiente a pianta irregolare denominato "Coro Vecchio". E' quanto rimane della chiesa di Ugone, luogo in cui abbonda il materiale pittorico di fine ?400 e inizio ?500. Oggi accoglie dieci dei sedici sarcofagi di pietra contenenti le salme dei principi di casa Savoia traslate dal Duomo di Torino il 25 ottobre 1836, quando re Carlo Alberto le consegnò in custodia, con l'intera abbazia, ai religiosi rosminiani. GRANDE AFFRESCO DELL' ASSUNZIONE (1505): è il più grande affresco che si conserva alla Sacra, dipinto nel 1505 sulla parete sinistra di chi entra in chiesa. È un'opera di grandi dimensioni (misura metri 6,50x4) eseguita in gran parte da Secondo del Bosco di Poirino, ma certamente presenta anche la mano di un suo scolaro. Il pittore seppe dividere lo spazio con ottimo criterio distribuendovi tre scene: la Sepoltura di Gesù, la dormizione di Maria (soggetto piuttosto raro), la Madonna Assunta. La scena migliore è quella di Gesù calato nel sepolcro, per l'espressivo dolore del viso, il movimento accentrato delle persone, la semplice freschezza dei colori. AFFRESCO DELLA LEGGENDA (fine 1600?): si trova sulla parete destra del Coro Vecchio, è dipinto a linee rosse e bianche su sfondo giallastro e riassume la storia, mista a leggenda, della fondazione del Santuario. In alto a destra San Giovanni Vincenzo che taglia le travi per costruire una chiesetta a San Michele sul monte Caprasio, angeli e colombe che trasportano le travi dal monte Caprasio alla cima del Pirchiriano; in alto a sinistra il monastero di San Michele già costruito, avvolto da tre fiammate a significare l'angelica apparizione; al centro il Vescovo di Torino Amizzone che sale da Avigliana e trova la chiesa già consacrata dagli Angeli; in basso a sinistra il corteo di Ugo di Montboissier che da Susa si dirige verso il Pirchiriano per fondarvi il Monastero. DEPOSIZIONE DI GESU' DALLA CROCE E PREDICA DEI MORTI (1505-1510): sulla parte superiore del pilastro del Coro Vecchio è affrescata la deposizione di Gesù: le figure sono ispirate a quelle di Gesù sepolto del grande affresco. Nella parte inferiore la scena curiosa di due scheletri che parlano ad un gruppo di fedeli attraverso due cartigli, uno in latino, che invita alla pietà per i defunti ed uno in francese arcaico che esorta i viventi a pregare per i trapassati e a ricordare il comune destino mortale. TRITTICO DI DEFENDENTE FERRARI (1520 circa): è il capolavoro più prezioso che possiede la Sacra, prelevato dall'altare maggiore, è stato restaurato e posto nel Coro Vecchio. Nel centro domina, in piedi su un arco di luna, in una mandorla d'oro, circondata da 12 cherubini, una delicata Madonna che allatta il Bambino Gesù. I pannelli laterali rappresentano l'uno San Michele Arcangelo che sconfigge il demonio, l'altro San Giovanni Vincenzo, che presenta alla Vergine il committente dell'opera Urbano di Miolans, abate commendatario della Sacra dal 1503 al 1522. La vezzosità del Bambinello è mirabile e naturalissima è la posizione dei piedini; lo splendido viso di Maria ispira fiducia, lo sguardo è modesto, l'impressione generale è di malinconia dolce, di innocenza e di pudore. Alla base, una squisita predella, su cui l'autore dipinge la Visitazione di Maria, la Natività del Bambino Gesù e l'Adorazione dei Magi.
