Il complesso sorge nel verde di una splendida valle, in un angolo di Monferrato tra i più suggestivi e intatti, tra vigneti, prati e aree boschive. La chiesa è dedicata alla Vergine Maria, al cui culto erano dedite particolarmente le canoniche riformate di Sant'Agostino.
