This is the first time I have tried anything like this.....

Constructive criticism welcome!

Nice try, Ann and I like the colour tone used and the uncluttered background. Now, it is difficult to make out what the object is (warthog?) so would suggest it needs a further light to illuminate the underside. You might say that it's not important as to what it actually is, but I think the viewer needs to feel an affinity with it, not just a strange curiosity. But it does go to show that a nice macro lens can be your best photography friend on such a cr@@ dull winter's day!

Hmmm....I thought it was a hippo.....
Thanks for your comment, Tim. That's interesting - I can see the underside clearly on my laptop (that is, on the Juza site, not only before upload) but I've just checked and I can't see it on my iPad......

Yes, a Hippo!

I'm looking, as I always do, on my 24 inch HD PC screen, (I don't have Ipad etc) many, if not the majority would view on mobile phones or at least something smaller than mine and that would reveal such details less. It looks quite dark anyway and I think it needs a bit more help in the illumination department. But, a fair start but such a subject would need all the help you can give it at the time of taking.

Would be interesting to see any other comments!

My lap top is smaller than your screen, so it can't be just a matter of screen size. I have many other versions.... It was an exercise for an on line course I am following, so I took the same shot, using the exposure adjustment button on lots of different settings. It would seem that one of my other images would have been more suitable for upload, if it ends up so very different from what I am seeing. Having said that, I like the darker, iPad, version, too :)

On-line course - ooooh, look at you!!! (Well done and hope it goes well)

Thanks but it's nothing grand - just a weekly lesson and project but it should fill in some of the gaps in my knowledge.

I found out what it was 'elsewhere' and where is the mushroom shot, also found elsewhere?? I really liked that one!

Thanks, Tim! Mushroom shot from elsewhere now posted!
