La cattedrale Vegetale composta da cinque o sette navate formate da un centinaio di colonne di rami intrecciati, alti sino a quindici metri; all'interno di ognuna di esse viene piantato un faggio. Le piante crescono cinquanta centimetri all'anno, tramite potatura annuale formeranno nel tempo una vera e propria cattedrale. Circa venti anni, la natura prenderà il sopravvento, gli artifici costruiti, per accompagnare la crescita delle piante marciranno lasciando il posto ai faggi, un'architettura interamente ecologica dove ciò che non è più necessario si corrode. Il processo, l'ideazione, la costruzione e l'evoluzione è in perenne movimento ed esprime la volontà archetipa dell'uomo di pregare la natura coltivando il suo sviluppo e la sua forza?" La Cattedrale Vegetale è un'opera di Giuliano Mauri, riconosciuto artista internazionale purtroppo scomparso nella primavera del 2009 lasciando numerosi progetti ancora in fase di realizzazione, come quello ai piedi del Monte Arera, coordinato nelle sue fasi finali dal figlio Roberto, a partire dalle indicazioni, dai progetti e dai disegni del padre. La Cattedrale Vegetale del Monte Arera è quindi un'opera speciale che ricorda la determinazione creativa di Giuliano Mauri che ne ha seguito con particolare passione le fasi progettuali, trovando nelle pendici e nelle alture del Monte Arera un luogo di rara bellezza e intensità?
