Covent Garden. The Paul Hamlyn Hall,(also known as the Floral Hall, as it covered the original Covent Garden Flower Market) with its wonderfully vaulted glass roof. It was physically impossible to shoot this absolutely square and true, due to a separate plane of glass just to my right, showing up as a horrible black vertical line, not helped by the inherent depth of field given by the 14mm superwide lens, on full-frame. I used the glass shelf in front of me to reflect the wonderful ceiling. As many alterations as I could do correct angles and distortions I have done so in processing. I don't expect to get the chance to take such a shot from here ever again! #BlackAndWhite

The angle of view was so wide that people on my right side would also be in the shot!

Wonderful! You've done a great job here, Tim! And I know it's not possible to take it totally straight on. I was so surprised to see this, even though I knew you'd been to Covent Garden :) Did you go to see a production? I didn't think you could get in otherwise......

I should add that I love the way you have used the glass shelf to reflect the ceiling!

Ann : thank you - I hoped that you'd get to see this -

- No, I hate, OK, don't like opera -

and I certainly wouldn't ever be able to afford to buy a ticket in this particular venue either (from what I've heard!)

Opera isn't my favourite either but I am fortunate enough to occasionally get a ticket to a general rehearsal there, so I am developing more of an appreciation for it. I have to say I saw one opera - Andre Chenier - that I loved!

If I could take in my Walkman or Ipod and play the Manic Street Preachers instead and look at the costumes, then I might!

Great! I think it can stick to the glass with a gorilla pad.
