Si entra nella sala da pranzo, l'ambiente più sfarzoso del castello, attraverso una bussola lignea che protegge dal freddo esterno. Sull'alzata delle credenze intagliate vasellame pregiato, piatti sbalzati, acquamanili figurati mostrano la ricchezza del signore ai suoi ospiti. Il soffitto a cassettoni ha formelle dipinte con busti di gentiluomini e donne, animali, frutti, droleries. In alto corre un fregio con conigli bianchi e fiori, interrotto dal ritratto di re Arduino. Queste decorazioni furono copiate da un salone del castello di Strambino (Ivrea), oggi in rovina. I tavoli sono a cavalletti, per essere facilmente smontati e trasportati; le tovaglie sono in lino bianco a decorazioni azzurre. Le stoviglie lasciate dai commensali non sono numerose, poiché è d'uso nel medioevo servirsi da vassoi di vivande già tagliate utilizzando gli stessi piatti in più di un commensale. Al fondo della sala sono i musici che allietano i conviti al castello, alloggiati su un palco. Questo è mascherato da un finto arazzo con scena di torneo disegnata da Federico Pastoris ispirandosi alle miniature del romanzo di Roy Modus, un manoscritto del XIV secolo appartenuto ai duchi di Savoia. Il telo fu dipinto nel 1884 da Alessandro Vacca. Da notare al centro Il dente di narvalo che riproduce l'esemplare conservato presso il Museo Regionale di Scienze naturali di Torino e che sostituisce quello originale esposto nel 1884. Nel medioevo, il dente del narvalo, cetaceo di colore giallognolo a macchie scure, era identificato con il corno del liocorno, animale fantasioso dal corpo di cavallo con un lunga protuberanza acuminata sulla fronte. A tale corno, di altissimo pregio, si attribuiva la virtù di antidoto contro i veleni e le malattie e veniva dunque collocato nelle sale da pranzo dei signori.
