I like the framing of the distant view - this seems to be a well photographed scene in Paris? (ie I've seen similar in my old camera club)

Speaking of which, I've been meaning to ask how the Club is going for you? Have they had a break for Christmas/New Year and have you returned since then?

Thanks - I imagine it is. The museum is very popular. It contains many famous works of art by Van Gogh, Monet, Pissarro, Renoir.......

I'm still enjoying the club and go every week that I am able to. There was a break over Christmas and a competition this week that I had to miss, so it's a while since I entered anything.

I don't know whether or not you keep half an eye on Blip but you may be interested to know that there are major negotiations going on this week, when it will be decided whether or not the community are going to be able to pursue buying it, should enough pledges be raised within the next 49 days. We are more than two-thirds of the way to the target. If not, it is in danger of disappearing.

Good luck and future success with the club.

I'm not really following Blipfoto any more. I still get some email notifications. Obviously it will be a pity and a shame for those still contributing should it disappear. When I met my friend in Cheltenham, who had introduced me to the site (he stopped after his 365, due to family and work pressures and at that time, the site was advertised as a 365 day challenge) he, like many felt that it had lost its mojo and respect when it collaborated with Polaroid and the new look was forced upon us. It's easy to feel sad and a bit responsible but also that there are other sites available but just another DotCom sinking would just be another statistic. I now feel far enough removed from my past activities with Blip to not feel that bad about something many felt might be inevitable anyway.

I'd rather you didn't quote me directly on Blip, by name, but if it's just 'someone I know feels', that's OK.

Thanks, Tim.

I wouldn't quote you on Blip for something like this, Tim. However, I did write on someone's page recently that I 'follow' you on this site and put a link to one of your images because they were wondering where you were now posting your images. I hope you don't mind - I assumed not, as you had told people yourself where you were going. I know there are those who miss your input but times change and people move on - it's the way things are. I know there is also a great community here, so no room for too much looking back.......

Thank you.

For me, it was always about the photography (MY photography!) first and community second. I move on easily - I've been let down in life so many times that one gets used to moving on and thus find it difficult to get too attached to anything, in case I lose it and which then is all the more painful. I'll always prefer talk about photography than someone's children or family. Having said all that, it sure is good to have you on board here on Juza, not least for the language side but because we share roughly a similar geographic area and thus most of the time know what we're mostly talking about!

Also with Blip, you have to look at WHY the site isn't paying its way and successful - and what it needs to do to remedy this. If it can't, then perhaps it is being mismanaged. I often compare it with Juza and what the differences are. Both sites are free with limited 'benefits', pay an annual fee and you get far more. Blip members are (were) always banging on about never allowing advertising. Do the two/three thumbnail photography associated ads per page here on Juza annoy or distract? Heck no! (It helps that I couldn't access their products as they're in Italian!). If it takes such a measure to save a site, then surely it must be done. There again, we don't know what health Juza.com is in, really. But we see its owner, founder and helmsman off photographing the wilds of Iceland yet when he returns, we can email him. (if we needed to)

Anyway, I need to test the new shower head I bought at B&Q this afternoon (abruptly changing the subject!, but point being, we are the consumer and these are the products that we pay (in some way or another) to enjoy and as such, we shouldn't need to worry about their inner workings etc and can switch off and do other things!

I know it's all about the photography for you and I understand that, Tim. And, thank you, I enjoy and appreciate our exchanges, too! We get our wires crossed occasionally and sometimes I cannot work out at all where your photos were taken but that's ok! I like seeing, through the lens of your camera, other places I could potentially visit!

www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?l=en&t=759672 this view of Salisbury's Castle Cameras might amuse you... Mattie and I still talk about this one... and it was all my idea. Good thing it was the manager's day off too! (thus it wasn't allowed on the CC website)

(He's had a haircut since, too!)

Many thanks, Matteo! I do believe this was taken just a few days before Christmas when I was in Paris with one of my sons!
