Waterloo Station, the Eurostar console, which, since 2007 has been empty, as Eurostar services now depart from St Pancras International. Every time I walk through Waterloo station though to the South Bank, I always feel a sadness for the crumbling now derelict terminus, which in its day cost about 150 million Euro to build. This particular very early morning, 2nd January this year, it seemed even more strangely desolate and not wanting to linger, grabbed a couple of shots with my super-wide 14mm Sigma, on FX. That lens with its huge bulbous front element doesn't like bright lights, so editing was a challenge. Those welcoming yellow stairs that go nowhere - and never will. |

Love the lights! Great patterns too, and, as you say, most welcoming....Such a tremendous waste of money..... Sorry I deleted your comment when I reloaded my image - I couldn't find a way to correct the lens info without deleting and reloading. Thanks for pointing it out to me! |

Beautiful photos, with high impact! With these lights seem to be on a big stage! Hello and good photos! :-) Bellissima foto, di notevole impatto visivo! Con queste luci sembra di essere su un grande palcoscenico! Ciao e buone foto! |

Thank you Ann. I never travelled on Eurostar and always wanted to (maybe I will one day) but as I said, it is saddening that corner of Waterloo is just left to crumble. But as you know, I like my dereliction and so I am attracted to such and as a record shot too, of course. Not all shots have to be prize winning compositions - when such places are gone, they're gone. No worries. It is a bit annoying that you can't post correct lenses and you did the right thing - as early as possible so there aren't too many comments. I need to go weekly grocery shopping now and I'll get back to recommenting on yours later. I may go out for a shoot this evening when the skies clear or save my energies until very early tomorrow morning. |

I've travelled on Eurostar to Paris - wonderfully quick and easy way to get to Paris - a city that I love! I'm hoping to go for the early start tomorrow. Did you get the anticipated good weather early this morning? I'm leaving my computer for a while now too, otherwise I shall never get things done that just have to be done! :) |
