#Wild #Verde Il ramarro occidentale, o Lacerta bilineata, è un sauro con abitudini diurne. E' diffuso principalmente in Spagna, Francia, Italia, ma si può trovare anche in Svizzera e Germania. Vive in zone soleggiate, preferibilmente incolte, dove siano presenti cespugli e siepi in cui potersi nascondere. Caratteri distintivi Il corpo del ramarro occidentale è simile a quello di una lucertola, ma di dimensioni maggiori. Può raggiungere la lunghezza di 45 cm compresa la coda. Le zampe sono dotate di cinque dita munite di artigli, che gli consentono di arrampicarsi velocemente. Il colore nel maschio è verde con striature nero-brunastre sul dorso e giallo sul ventre. La livrea della femmina può assumere diverse colorazioni, dal verde al beige. Nel periodo degli accoppiamenti la gola del maschio diventa di colore azzurro intenso. Biologia I ramarri si nutrono di insetti, larve, bruchi, molluschi, piccoli rettili e piccoli mammiferi, uova e nidiacei. Non disdegnano alimenti di origine vegetale come frutta o bacche. Nel periodo riproduttivo i maschi si trovano in competizione tra loro. Si affrontano e alzano la testa con atteggiamento aggressivo, mostrando il sottogola azzurro all'avversario per intimorirlo. Nel contempo frustano l'aria con la coda. Il duello termina quando l'esemplare più debole si allontana, decretando la sua sconfitta. Il maschio vincitore potrà accoppiarsi con la femmina. Durante l'accoppiamento il maschio trattiene la femmina afferrandola con la bocca su un fianco. Dopo alcune settimane, la femmina scava un nido profondo una decina di centimetri e vi depone da 5 a 25 uova lunghe circa 18 mm. La schiusa avviene generalmente in 3 mesi. I piccoli ramarri sono di colore marrone per mimetizzarsi meglio con il terreno, possono avere sfumature verdi sui fianchi, mentre il ventre appare giallo come negli adulti.
