My friend AnnH had posted up a nice photo of Wareham, in Dorset, the other day and so I thought I'd look through my archives and found this classic view of the town, from the bridge. I had walked all the way from Corfe Castle that day, so was very tired! Enjoy your Sunday with this pleasant English summer view. |

That's one heck of a walk from Corfe Castle, Tim! As you say, a classic shot, well taken! The very first time I visited Dorset (for an interview), I stayed at the Old Granary for the night and also visited Corfe Castle. I fell in love with Dorset there and then! :) Thanks for the mention! |

So you're not Dorset born and bred, then? The walk was the Purbeck Way - I'd done the bit from Swanage to Corfe - that's relatively easy, at least for me as I can get to Swanage far easier than I can either Corfe or Wareham. It was a case of 'well, I'm probably not going to be young or fit enough to ever do again, so... this was July 2014, so age 49! Yes, the classic view and then bus to Poole and then, well, you know how I do it. The last bit of the walk along the River Frome into Wareham was especially nice, well worth doing! And you're welcome, I most probably wouldn't have ever posted otherwise, too much of a postcard view - I did consider making it sepia but just too many cars in it! I was getting wet again this afternoon, this time in Downton. (not the Abbey...) |

No - but I've been here all my adult life (except for one year living overseas), so much more time here than not! The river walk sounds good - is there a footpath/public right of way? I managed to get today's photos taken at the end of the morning before the rain began, thankfully! |

Oh yes, as I said, it's the end of the Purbeck Way and all nicely signposted with decent paths. The views of the church tower across the watermeadows was a particular delight, 'home' in sight, so to speak! Recommneded! |
