Pyrgus malvae - Linnaeus 1758 Nome Volgare: Esperia della malva. Dimensioni: apertura alare 20-25 mm. Descrizione: colore di fondo delle ali marrone con numerose macchie bianche quadrangolari. La disposizione di quelle submarginali, nell'ala anteriore, e la presenza della grossa macchia discoidale, nella posteriore, identificano la specie. Il bordo delle ali è sfrangiato con macchie alternate chiare e scure. Rovescio delle ali punteggiato di bruno, gialliccio, bianco e verde oliva. Distribuzione e habitat: presente nell'Italia continentale, in diversi ambienti fioriti, dal limite fino a 2500 metri di quota. Il bruco cresce su Fragaria (Fragola selvatica) e Potentilla. Periodo di attività: adulti da aprile ad agosto in 2 generazioni.
