Via Garibaldi è una delle principali vie del centro di Torino di Torino. Essa collega piazza Castello con piazza Statuto e rappresenta la strada cittadina di più antica memoria, originariamente uno degli assi principali dell'area urbana romana delimitata dalle attuali piazza Castello e via della Consolata. Sotto Vittorio Amedeo II venne prolungata all'attuale corso Valdocco e nell'Ottocento venne infine collegata a piazza Statuto mediante l'ultimo tratto provvisto di edifici con portici. Da sempre via principale della città, per la sua lunghezza e per l'ampiezza, fino al 1882 era nota ai torinesi come Contrada di Dora Grossa. Circondata da palazzi settecenteschi è considerata, con i suoi 963 metri di sviluppo, la seconda via pedonale più lunga d'Europa, dopo Rue Sainte-Catherine a Bordeaux.L'installazione " Luì e l'arte di andare nel bosco " di Luigi Mainolfi, per Luci d'artista a Torino, costituisce un esempio mirabile di narrazione calata in un contesto urbano quotidiano. Spazio urbano e racconto cooperano, cosicché ciascuno contribuisce a costruire il significato dell'altro.
