Il Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea ha la missione storica e culturale di promuovere la ricerca e la comprensione dell'arte del nostro tempo, stimolando il pubblico e favorendo la crescita sociale e civile del territorio nel quale opera. Il Museo lavora al servizio dei cittadini, degli studenti, degli studiosi e degli operatori di settore come luogo di confronto e crescita della creatività, della conoscenza e delle competenze nell'ambito della storia dell'arte contemporanea. Ha ruolo di "antenna" del mondo contemporaneo: segue i movimenti internazionali e radicali dell'arte in un dialogo costante tra la storia e l'attualità. Centro vitale di sperimentazione favorisce, attraverso l'attività, la diffusione delle opere di giovani artisti italiani e internazionali. E parlando di "antenna" vi presento un'opera di Lawrence Weiner: Ha ideato MADE TO PRODUCE A SPARK (FATTA PER PRODURRE UNA SCINTILLA) (2006): concepita all'inverso, dell'opera si legge prima la sua conclusione (da cui il titolo), per poi raccogliere frammenti di significato salendo ed avvolgendosi intorno al cuore dello spazio, prima di arrivare alla sommità dove si trova l'inizio dell'opera: UNA LEGGERA PIOGGIA (CATTURATA). Si potrebbe pensare alla forma elicoidale e alle sue connotazioni filosofiche (qualcosa che si avvolge attorno a sé), o all'idroelettricità prodotta sulle montagne dietro a Rivoli, o all'esperienza dell'arte come una ?scintilla' nella coscienza prodotta da materiali ai quali è stato fatto qualcosa (come una ?pioggia catturata'), ma ogni metafora non sarebbe nell'intento del lavoro, e dipende solo dalla propria libertà esperirlo nel modo che più piace.
