Yes! it was a cold winter morning with snow and wind...I couldn't feel my finger push the button...Be sure I remember this moment !! but this bird was not afraid and I put a foot on the iced water to compose correctly my shot...just after, I came back home in a warm room to defreeze !!! So I agree with you, that looks cold for me too ! |

Nice capture. You had a beautiful light. I see that 70-200 works pretty good with the 2x extender. Regards |

Hello Saroukai. Beautiful photos. Question: I am selling the 70/200 f2, 8 L because I find it short, even when I use it with the kenko 1.4x, but I noticed that used with the Canon 2x the definition seems to me good, as in this photo of yours. What do you think? I sell it and I'll take the 400 f 5.6 opure buy the 2x III? See you soon buddy, you're always a great in the photos. Joe Ciao Saroukai. Bellissima foto. Joe |

No way for me, I really prefer the 70/200 f/2.8 L because of its aperture. In this shot, the subject was very close to me, that's why the definition is correct even with the Canon 2X (first version !). I often have problems using the Canon 2X (first version) with far subjects, I lose too much definition and details. It really depends of what you are shooting. That is also the reason why I bought a 300mm f/2.8 (first version too !) about 1200 €. I think that's the best choice to keep large aperture with a better reach. I also use the canon 1.4X (first version) when I need to get closed to the subject, combinate with an APS-C body as the Canon 50D (next will be the 7D II) that offers a 1,6 X reach keeping the original aperture. so my 300mm f2.8 become a 480mm f2.8 in my Canon 50D and a great 670mm f/4 with the Canon 1.4 X (and you can travel easily with it).Other than that, the Canon 400mm f/5.6 is a great choice that works very well alone ....but in my humble opinion, you may be limited (and frustrated !) by the aperture of f/11 with the Canon 2X III in bad light conditions...Best regards my friend ! |

Thank you very much Saroukai, Well said, then sell the 70/200 and take the 400 f 5.6. The canon 2x III I was only interested to zoom 70/200, not the 400 that would become of aps 1280 f 11, very long but too dark. At best going forward will take the 70/200 f 4L if I will advance a few Euros. See you soon. A presto. Joe |
