Dall'ultima eruzione avvenuta nell'estate 2015 sono passati circa sei mesi. Giorno 3 Dicembre il vulcano si è nuovamente risvegliato aprendo un nuovo cratere, nominato Pit Crater. L'attività ha continuato consecutivamente per diversi giorni. Mi sono organizzato insieme a mio cugino per salire sul vulcano, dal lato nord, per ammirare al fenomeno. Arrivati al Rifugio Citelli abbiamo iniziato il percorso che ci avrebbe portato al monte Serracozzo. Il percorso era molto pendente e quindi faticoso, ma giunti alla cima del monte era possibile ammirare ad uno spettacolo mozzafiato.
