Fifty shades of grey! Thankfully there is plenty of interest in those swirling grey clouds. I thought that they'd be their usual dull leaden sort that we usually get and so didn't venture out. |

Thanks, Tim! There was loads of texture in the clouds today, so I felt they carried the image with only a minimal amount of foreground interest. Quite a windy day, so I guess that managed to stir them up a bit. I really enjoy the wind, so long as I'm dressed appropriately! |

As John Gravett (apparently) says, almost any weather is bearable, if dressed accordingly, and to which I totally agree. |

I agree, too! Did I mention that I was wearing six layers of clothing when on the Cumbrian coastline? Totally necessary but did the job! |

Six layers, eh? My misty horsey shot was on that recent freezing day after the sunrise and the footpath shots - being totally dressed for the occasion allowed to me just carry on... |

By the way, did you ever get to buy a bag from Castle Cameras? I've been looking around myself, though guess I'd need something a bit bigger than you would (more lenses, walk further ((provisions)) |

I did and I'm very happy with it but I'm sure that it would be inadequate for you. I go for everything as small as is practical for the purpose and lightweight, so it's a small Lowepro backpack with a waterproof cover and enough room inside for my camera, three lenses, polarising filters, extension tubes and still a couple of spaces for anything else I may buy! No room for food, though - I have a separate, almost weightless, bag for that! |

I have an internal 'bag' for food - my stomach!! Lowepro are great and about the best most quality popular. Yours sounds pretty spacious, mind you. Can you give me the model name, if it's near to you, just so I can compare? Salisbury's shop is much smaller than Winton's and bags take up space so their stock is limited - so I'd like to do some research first, inc online. For the past few years, I've been using cheap and rubbish normal rucksacks and had lenses in their protective padded cases, inside, which is fine, but not good for quick access. The camera is always on my shoulder, - partly so that it's always ready and if the rucksack gets stolen/lost/ rolls down a hill to its death, I still have the camera and one lens left!! |

It's this one www.castlecameras.co.uk/lowepro-pro-runner-200-aw-black but it would appear that Castle Cameras have sold out. There are plenty more to choose from, though, and, if I were prepared to take the extra weight, would choose one with an extra zipped section on the bottom for non-camera related stuff like waterproof trousers. |

Thank you - without looking at the link, I know that I had looked at that one online and decided it was too small, as my quite large 70-300mm is always with me and then there's a fisheye too! Then maps, filter holders, my 10-24mm, (presuming the satndard zoom is on the camera) often a fast standard such as 35mm f1.8 and if I'm travelling there's Ipod and headphones etc. London Camera Exchange in Southampton (Civic Centre) is one of the biggest photo stores in the south and they have lots of bags - I might go for some shots around the docks and pop in - thank you! |

No problem! I didn't really think it would be big enough to suit your needs. Happy hunting! |

My research has paid off. (I hope!!) www.amazon.co.uk/Tamrac-5586-Expedition-6x-Backpack/dp/B00148QQSC/ref= , which is now last year's model, in a 'as new' condition' for 80 pounds from that MPB Photographic that I have mentioned. Some risk of course, buying blind but reading all the Amazon reviews and in essence I get a no compromise rucksack that'll suit my needs for a very good price indeed. (I simply couldn't have afforded the new price and so buying new I would have ended up with something I'd not be happy with). And I've had Tamrac before, widely known as similar in quality to Lowepro and widely sold and in Castle Cams. Delivered for five pounds this Friday! I guess I could return it if I really had to and I'm presuming there's no guarantee but if it's not as described "no visible signs of wear", then I would have a case in doing so. |
