Tra le tantissime chiese di Torino, la Chiesa di Nostra Signora del Suffragio e Santa Zita è sicuramente una delle più particolari da vedere. L'edificio sacro fu eretto nel 1866 per volontà di Francesco Faà di Bruno, presbitero e matematico italiano fondatore dell'Opera di Santa Zita nel 1859. Il progetto della chiesa fu affidato all'architetto Edoardo Arborio Mella, ma fu successivamente ripreso dallo stesso Francesco Faà di Bruno. L'edificio è neoromanico ed ha uno stile sobrio ed austero. La pianta della Chiesa di Nostra Signora del Suffragio e Santa Zita è a tre navate con volte a crociera. Lungo le navate laterali corrono i matronei che servivano a far entrare la luce nella chiesa, illuminando la zona centrale. La cupola, ottagonale ed in stile romanico-bizantino, sovrasta l'ultima campata della navata centrale e ricorda le cupole di fattezza medievale. La facciata è in mattoni ed è abbellita da archetti pensili e da acuti pinnacoli. Il portone centrale è in pietra ed è coronato da lunetta dedicata alla Madonna. Da vedere sicuramente all'interno dell'edificio, dietro la navata centrale, una statua, opera di Antonio Tortone e realizzata in un unico blocco di marmo di Carrara, raffigurante Nostra Signora del Suffragio Universale. Di notevole impatto è il campanile che sorge al lato della chiesa Chiesa di Nostra Signora del Suffragio e Santa Zita, opera di Francesco Faà di Bruno che per la progettazione chiese aiuto all'architetto Alessandro Antonelli. Con i suoi 83 metri, il campanile è uno degli edifici più alto di Torino, dopo il Grattacielo della Regione, la Mole Antonelliana, il Grattacielo di Intesa San Paolo e la Torre Littoria. Si narra che una sì grande altezza fu voluta da Francesco Faà di Bruno per evitare che i lavoratori della città venissero ingannati sull'orario di lavoro. Il Beato progettò un orologio di due metri di diametro su tutte e quattro le facciate del campanile a circa 70 metri di altezza così che l'ora del giorno fosse ben visibile ai lavoratori in diversi punti della città. La particolarità del campanile è la tecnica mista di costruzione: la prima metà è infatti realizzata in muratura di mattoni seguita poi dalla cella campanaria con 32 colonnine in ghisa (che servono ad amplificare il suono delle campane) al posto dei muri. Sopra la cella campanaria, troviamo di nuovo la struttura in muratura fino alla cuspide in cima che sorregge un globo sul quale è raffigurato un angelo che suona la tromba.
