Fair play to Bristol - no-one complained one bit at me setting up my big Slik tripod all over their city centre, last Friday night, often right in the middle of the street! Freezing cold and just after a shower, the colours have NOT been enhanced, it really was this vibrant.

It's true that a tripod forces you to take more time. I took considerably fewer photos than usual last week when I was using a tripod, despite taking the same shot multiple times with different settings to find what worked best in pretty dire weather conditions! |

That is certainly one of the main reasons why avid tripod users cite, I know John G and David M say so. To me, they're a bit of a nuisance and will only get used when light conditions/movement etc calls for their use.
