Un simbolo riconosciuto in tutto il mondo! Piccola storia cercata e trovata nella più grande enciclopedia del mondo, buona lettura: "L'invenzione del wc è tutt'ora una questione dibattuta. Secondo una recente scoperta archeologica, 2000 anni fa in Cina erano utilizzate toilet simili a quelle odierne. In una tomba della dinastia Han (dal 206 a.C. al 24 d.C.), è stato infatti ritrovato un bagno con un sistema per sedersi e per raccogliere l'acqua. In occidente, invece, lo scrittore John Harlington, figlioccio della regina Elisabetta d'Inghilterra, è considerato l'inventore del water closet o wc, che tradotto in italiano significa "ripostiglio per l'acqua". Nel 1596, sir Harlington ideò un marchingegno fornito di una torre-serbatoio d'acqua. Un rubinetto a mano faceva affluire l'acqua in un serbatoio più piccolo, mentre una botola a valvola faceva defluire l'acqua di scolo in un pozzo nero. Seppur rudimentale, il progetto destò un certo interesse, ma il nobile inventore ebbe la brutta idea di parlarne in un libro, lasciandosi andare pesanti allusioni. Il cattivo gusto non piacque alla regina Elisabetta che bocciò il progetto e non volle più saperne dell'ingegnoso figlioccio. Soltanto un secolo e mezzo dopo circa, nel 1775, il water closet vide la luce, per merito di Alexander Cummings che lo perfezionò con l'uso del sifone"
