Nome scientifico: Pyrgus armoricanus (Oberthur 1910) Dimensioni: Lunghezza ala anteriore mm. 12-15 Descrizione della specie: Nome Volgare: Pirgo bretone Famiglia: Hesperiidae Sottofamiglia: Pyrginae Farfalla piccole dimensioni, le ali sono di colore bruno scuro; quelle anteriori presentano spazi bianchi evidenti. In riposo, come tutti i rappresentanti della famiglia, mantiene le ali anteriori verticali e quelle posteriori, orizzontali. Sverna allo stadio di uovo. Maschio: ali anteriori di colore bruno scuro con spazi bianchi ben sviluppati. Presente una piega androconiale costale. Ali posteriori di colore bruno scuro con disegni poco evidenti. Femmina: Simile al maschio ma priva di piega costale nelle anteriori. Rovescio: Colore bruno poco uniforme con spazi bianchi e nervature più chiare. Armatura genitale maschile: Uncus con due appendici ventrali di aspetto triangolare, estremità posteriore della valva a forma di semicerchio. Piante nutrici: Potentilla reptans Distribuzione e habitat: Tutta la penisola e le isole. Specie xerofila, si rinviene in svariati ambienti sia freschi e umidi che aridi e caldi, dalla pianura fino a circa 1200 metri s.l.m. Periodo di attività: Due generazioni annuali con sfarfallamento degli adulti in maggio-giugno e agosto-settembre.
