gentlemen, I have an idea for these days, Andromeda passes the zenith at around 22.22 so you can place the camera with the lens cap on the telescope while chasing the stars of course up, I tried once with the film and is It was my best photo ;-)

Ciao a tutti,
Marco

Hello to all,
I apologize for the delay in the answer, absolutely not being rude but in recent days I have not attended the site.
Thank you all for the appreciation and the response that I have to step in Luke
Yes, the picture was taken with the Canon 20Da and lens Nikon 300 f4.5 ED on German equatorial mount Celestron CG5, without homing.
Personally I find that the focal length of 300mm on APS-C is great for a variety of objects in the sky.
The CG5 is not a hype mechanically very refined but keeps a good tracking for 2-3 minutes, provided that you have done a good polar alignment. To do so I use the functionality 'polar align' the CG5 (not the method of 'Bigourdan' or 'drifting9; who sincerely do not know ... ;-)).
I did 42 poses which I discarded a decade because the stars were a bit 'stretched for a pursuit not accurate.
Let's say you typically get 7-8 images of 10 good for the next stacking.
Certainly the focal reduced (compared to a telescope) helps.
I am convinced that the astroinseguitore skywatcher can hold poses at least two minutes at a focal length of 300mm, also here the prerequisite is that the polar alignment is accurate.
In addition, the dark sky and transparent Lignan has made a remarkable difference ... from my house in Volpiano have never managed to get such detailed picture: fconfuso:
Greetings
Marco

Congratulations! how do you get the stars out so round and perfect? I'm considering whether to buy the nikkor you also have or a ts optics 60/360...

www.cloudynights.com/topic/723787-optical-design-performance-ray-traci

Cieli Sereni ;-)

Marco
