WOW .... I had read and tried to find material for a mirror I also constructed cloning for telescopes .... but you should not use two identical glass disks?
Certainly moving a disk from 80 cm and 100 kg maybe it would not be easy ....

Mat

You are in the heart, a smooth glass like that hand should not be a trivial matter .....
Let me know how it will end ... but the silver where you do it?
Congratulations anyway for the enterprise
Mat

Eeeek!!!Eeeek!!!Eeeek!!!

I try to respond to everyone and give some more news :-P
Meanwhile, we say that the two friends who have decided to jump into this enterprise are Fabio Falchi and Gianluigi Bianchi both Mantua and members of the Amateur Astronomers Mantovani. Fabio Falchi in particular is president of Dark Sky Association Coordination for the protection of the night sky.

Nice firm .... it now that I remember I read also the method that you are using .... with two hard twin disc tool is under ... where you have retrieved the abrasive powder? .. .Carborundum right? I stopped myself because I could not retrieve it anywhere ... but at the time there was still the WEB!

The blank has been purchased already measure, already dug for instance, is done by hand "only" part of buffing and correction .... ergo anything abrasive, only oxides.

Auguri!

Best wishes! It is certainly not easy to work on a diameter such that the tolerances required for the optical astronomy.
